Dressing For The Transition Into Autumn

There is something incredibly refreshing about September time. In my mind, it's always marked a new challenge and a fresh start to be better than the previous year. With every new season comes the dreaded and totally unnecessary "what am I going to wear/I need new clothes" escalations... But today I'm talking how to dress for the transition into autumn and why everyone needs a transitional dress! Karen Millen are truly nailing it this season.

Every autumn, I like to tone down my wardrobe and find somewhere to store my more summery pieces of clothing. With so many brands launching their new Autumn/Winter collections, I have been particularly coveting the navy, green and burgundy tones, which I have been trying incredibly hard not to spend a small fortune on... Whilst I will try to upload as many of my autumnal outfits over on this space, I've started the season with this simple outfit from Karen Millen. Perfect for this incredibly warm September.

Whether you're going to work, a weekend invitation or a lunch date with friends, a dress always fits the bill - you can never go wrong with a simple yet sophisticated casual smart dress. Whilst I'm always tempted by the bold prints and bright colours, when I'm investing in a premium brand I like to go for investment pieces - colours that are fail proof and will look fantastic for years.

The devoré Karen Millen dress is the perfect length for the transitional seasons and looks incredibly smart with flats or heels. I'm personally really liking the block heel trend so I picked these gorgeous KM block heel courts because they add enough height whilst still being incredibly comfortable to spend an entire day in. Long gone are the days when I could spend a full twelve hours in over 8cm heels...

Accessorise. Simple accessories last a lifetime if they're kept well. For my larger handbags that I pull out my closet in the wintertime, I always try to keep them in dust-bags when I'm not using them. This beautiful oversized Karen Millen bag instantly caught my eye this season... The colour works with so many outfits all year round, and is the perfect size for the winter months when you have more than a wallet to carry! I'm forever throwing umbrellas, hats, gloves and scarves into my larger shoulder bags - very handy!
