My City Guide To York

York has honestly got to be one of my favourite cities in the UK. There’s something about the tiny cobbled streets, the old-fashioned shops, the Minster, my favourite fashion and homeware stores, and finishing off with a good old Betty’s high tea blend from my favourite cafe is the icing on the cake. Having just graduated University, lots is up in the air at the moment, but a potential house move to York is on the table, and I am very excited by the prospect of calling this gorgeous city my home.

York is one of those places that is totally worth a visit. It reminds me very much of Cambridge - similar architecture, lots of bicycles, bright coloured doors and many cobbled streets. Every street is a picture and I love it's vibe. Despite July's busy tourist season, with small crowds of people shuffling their way through the Shambles (one of my favourite little streets), the city is definitely worth a visit in the sunshine! Wandering through the streets, you can find flower stalls, freshly squeezed lemonade stands and handmade candles for sale - all of my favourites. How could I not feel right at home here, right?!

By some miracle I managed to dodge the showers and dark clouds to take these photos! What you don't see in these photos is the rain and showers that followed - but we were lucky to get our 20 minute break of blue skies and sunshine! When I love a trend, I like to do it in full, and I must admit I am going through an Anthropologie phase right now - I am loving their S/S16 collection! I've paired their Nava Off-The-Shoulder Top (Lilac) with their Pilcro Serif Ankle Jeans and I cannot get enough of this outfit. I've been pairing it up with heels for the city or an evening look, but you can equally pair it down with some flats in the day time, and it looks so effortless.

As I have probably mentioned countless times on my blog before - I am a tea drinker/lover, and enthusiast. I haven't quite hit my mum's record of over ten cups a day, but I will have at least three! A must go-to place is Betty's tea room, if you are anything like me! Their classic tea blend is one of my favourites, and I always make sure to pick up a box in their shop section. Their traditional blend is quite strong tea, but I love it in the mornings or for an afternoon "wake-me-up-now, let's-get-some-work-done" kind of thing. Betty's is famous and exclusive to Yorkshire, and your sit down table service experience is quite something!

The Minster in York is stunning and incredibly picturesque. When I'm site-seeing a city, I like to feel very comfortable, and pack lightly! I'm wearing my Mulberry Clifton Bag, because I only need to put a card, lip balm, and a phone in there! It's an incredibly handy size! If you haven't already seen my unboxing video on my YouTube channel, I have linked it down below if you are interested in seeing more.

Being quite short and petite, I do struggle to find jeans of the right length but these Pilcro Serif Ankle Jeans are perfect. I've spent the most part of this year rolling up long trousers for this effect - but these Anthropologie jeans are amazing. You know those jeans that just have that comfortable elasticated stretch to them and just look so flattering?! ... I am truly loving these!
