Having Something Personal With You Everyday

From my eighteenth birthday, I started wearing jewellery everyday. My mum had bought me a silver bangle, that we had gone specially to choose together on Bond Street in London. It was a really special eighteenth birthday experience, and I do still wear that bracelet to this day. In fact, I'm wearing it as I type this blog post. Maybe it's just me, but every piece of jewellery I wear has a story or a special meaning behind, and today I wanted to share my story of how this came about.

Whilst you guys can all probably tell from my blog, I love clothes (coats in particular - you can never have too many right?) Today I'm wearing this old favourite of mine from L.K.Bennett in this gorgeous autumnal mocha shade! I also love ankle boots, wool and cashmere knitwear and of course, a good old classic investment piece handbag. But when it comes to jewellery, in my eyes, it is the ultimate investment. My friends would laugh at the amount of times I would buy a top, or a blouse and call it an investment piece - because somehow or other, it would find itself in the wash and come out half it's size. Yes, I now only wash on a cold setting, but I definitely learnt the hard way over the years. Has anyone else done this all too many times?!

With a love of style over fashion, I love completing and styling an outfit with jewellery. I am drawn to your everyday colour palette when it comes to clothing. At a glance, my wardrobe is a melange of the greys, camels, and navy blue tones most of the time! But in my opinion, it only takes some rings and a bangle to complete that minimalist and sophisticated look.

Growing up, as I have mentioned in passing over on my blog before, I was lucky enough to live in so many different countries because of my father's work. It allowed me to learn the french I speak today, having studied in the french educational system, but also it gave me the opportunity to meet so many people in so many different countries and learn so much about the cultures, and get the see more of the world from such a young age. But with this unfortunately came the constant moving around, and never being in the same country for more than three years at a time.

For me, jewellery has always allowed me to have a piece of memory or support whether that’s on my wrist, around my neck, or in my ears. Every piece brings a story and a bit of home, and sometimes you just need to be reminded of those things, no matter where you are in the world.

If you are looking for a birthday present or even a Christmas present for a friend, girlfriend or family member - a piece of jewellery goes a long way.
