A Festive Retreat In The Country
Take me to the countryside any day, anytime, anyhow - I'll be there. It's very easy to get caught up in the commercial side of the festive season, with the never-ending busy city crowds, and as much as I love shopping, sometimes I need to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. So this weekend, I headed out to the countryside for a festive retreat. What better way to spend the run up to Christmas than going on a countryside walk and a Betty's tea room, right?!
This weekend, I visited the beautiful Harlow Carr gardens, with 68-acres of woodland walks, based just outside of Harrogate. I absolutely love going for walks at this time of year, the colours are stunning and it gives me the opportunity to bring along the camera. There's something incredibly satisfying about wrapping up warm and pulling your wellies out of the cupboard and heading out for a long walk in the colder weather. I've also been incredibly excited by this new check scarf addition to my wardrobe this season... having wanted one for years, I finally found the one. It's a gorgeous timeless check, with warm autumnal tones - and I don't think I could have worn it more even if I tried !
I have talked a lot about Betty's on the blog and it is honestly one of my favourite places. But come Halloween and Christmas, they take it to a whole other level. If you are ever visiting Yorkshire, I would definitely recommend! With everything homemade, their mince pies and homemade soup are my personal favourites, and they make a winter walk ten times better. I am yet to go to one of their cooking schools, but as you can imagine, I am seriously due a visit.
