4 Things To Do In York

First of all, happy halloween everybody! I get particularly excited over this season as my birthday falls soon after, so it's always full of activities... and of course, with the added bonus of the run up to Christmas! The temperatures are dropping and I have been so excited to pull out my winter coats... more on this in a minute, because I have fallen hard for these evergreen pieces from L.K.Bennett! Today however, I wanted to talk about my top four things I would recommend doing in York.

Some of you may know that I moved toYork this September - it only feels like yesterday since I moved in! It has honestly been an amazing month, packed full of so many exciting opportunities! York is beautiful. On every street corner, there is another photoshoot for the blog... I've talked a lot about how I can't stay still and how exploring and getting out everyday is very important to me, especially for my mind. I'm a massive do-er! Having only lived here for one month now, I do feel like I definitely have my top four places to go in York that I would recommend to all my friends and family and, obviously, equally to my readers too.

Up until about two weeks ago, I had never visited this absolutely amazing chocolate house. I met up with a local friend of mine who knew all the best places in York (I'll be pestering her again to write some more down for me soon...). York Cocoa House is awesome. First of all, you have a coffee shop setting for tea and coffee but also, can we take a second to just appreciate how amazing their hot chocolates are... From milk chocolate to dark chocolate, to 70% or 95% - you can choose the type of hot chocolate you order and its genuinely delicious and made from their exclusive chocolate range. Obviously a lot richer than tea and coffee, but if you have a sweet tooth - this is one for you!

You know me... I have a thing for Georgian houses... another reason that influenced my move to York. Cobbled streets, bright coloured doors, I just can't get enough. If I need a fail safe area for a photoshoot for the blog, the surrounding area around York cathedral is where I head to! The back streets are stunning, with lots of little independent cafes and shops to find. I would honestly love to pad out this paragraph more, but I feel as though it speaks for itself. Make sure you make time for a visit if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed!

Hands up... last week I got myself a National Trust membership. Call me old, but nothing beats a visit to one of these places on the weekends, camera in hand, and of course, ending up in their tea room with a pot of earl grey - what more could you want from an autumnal Saturday?! When the leaves start to turn, I had a reason to pull out my favourite matching coat and handbag, a cosy white roll neck and a pair of comfy skinny jeans - Beningbrough Hall was such a beautiful day out. Not to mention, did you see the pumpkin display at the start?! How cute, right?!

A few weeks back, I visited the gorgeous Castle Howard, it has, without a doubt, reached my top four places to visit in York! If you haven't already seen my photos from this stately home, you can see them all from my recent blog post on "How to improve your blog photography". Whilst you do have to pay an entrance fee, it is still an incredibly beautiful place to visit and I couldn't recommend it more for a family day out!
